2010 Good-Bye, Adios, Smell-you-later.....but thank you for the lessons learned however hard they may have been!!!

This may be too candid for some, so sorry if it is a little too personal, but life is candid and so are my experiences! Here is a list of my best and worst experiences of 2010:

-Libby getting baptized, even if we(Garrett and Anne Deucher clan) all had the stomach flu, and Aunt Sarah was having full blown contractions.....thanks Sarah and baby Ty for waiting!
-Watching baby Ty being born, oh how I love that nephew of mine, we have a special bond thing going!
-Lake Powell, North Carolina, St. George, and California.
-Tessa leaving the nest this year. From my heart to Ms Kathy's Moonbeam Pre-School!
-Serving the ladies in my church, and more than that getting to know the ladies in my church. Amazing! They give, they care, they serve, they are....just good to the bone!
-Camping with the girls in a Monsoon! Yes, this was year two of camping in a Monsoon maybe next year we'll be renting a cabin!
-Making over my house! New tile, new paint, new couches, new bedding, new drapes! I am so grateful that I have a creative outlet that will let me "escape" for just a while.
-Wendy Densley Wight getting married. Wendy has been one of my "Best" friends for over 25 years, I was so excited! Now Wendy.....first comes marriage then comes baby.....just sayin'
-St. George with Haley and Courtney at the blogging conference. I have a amazing friends, I'm so proud!
-Having my entire extended family together for Christmas!
-Never giving up on the things I used to enjoy running, the outdoors, hobbies, traveling etc. however frustrating it may have been, I'm starting to enjoy all of them again......hard work really does pay off!
-Learning that faith is not a given gift, it is a gift that is obtained through seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, even a year of hard work and perseverance.
-Realizing swallowing a huge piece of bitter, tough, and sour humble pie is not easy, Anne can't fix and be in control of everything...dang-it!
-Late night cuddles with my 3 darlings. Whatever I did to get these three, I will never know!
-Learning that praying 10 times a day for a miracle, fasting to be healed, fulfilling my church callings, serving others, reading my scriptures daily, attending the temple regularly, doing my visiting teaching monthly, never missing the sacrament, doing my best to be a good wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friends etc. is not an insurance policy to take away my illness but, it will give me courage, patience, and the strength to keep putting one foot in front of the other.
-Learning that my best friend is someone that I cannot see or touch!
-Learning that my second best friend is a Hairy, quarter Italian, football loving fella, that just gets me . He loves me for all of my imperfections. He carries me, he carries me , he carries me!
-Learning that it is possible to get through a day or even a week on 5 minutes of peace! Trust me, I know!

and

-Realizing just today, that no matter how hard I think I have it there is someone out there that is in need of "me" and my strengths, because my strengths just might be their weaknesses. For all of those that have given me some of your "strengths", you will never know how grateful I am!

I've been blessed to have a family that is good, good to the bone! I know most of you have families that are just like mine...good, but for you that don't I hurt for you. The Holidays for me are a time to spend with the people that I love the most, the people that show me unconditional love, security, and peace.....and on occasion a little bit of drama, but drama is life. I've had experiences with a few of my dearest friends lately that has shown me just how lucky I am. They aren't blessed with a family like mine. This is a reminder to me that I need to hug my family a little tighter, tell them I love them a little more often, and thank my Heavenly Father for giving me my family!

Dance Recital 2010

This year Tessa's dance teacher thought it would be cute for the girls to perform their dance in front of Santa, but for Tessa(a Santa hater) this was no fun! During the whole dance her eyes were glued to Santa's in sheer terror. Half way through the dance she could not bare the anxiety anymore and began to shed tears....big crocodile tears! She has begged to not have Santa drop gifts off this year, "Mom, he's scary" she says. If you think about it it's kind of true, a big fat old man, yelling"Ho Ho Ho" while his face is lost behind mounds and mounds of white curly hair. Tessa, I don't blame you I would be scared too!

You give me a run for money on a daily basis, and I have been known to cry during a few of our battles, but I love you more than anything! You are a compassionate, kind, and giving person! Your happiness and energy is contagious. Your strong personality will be an asset later on......and please be kind to your parents when you are a teenager......PLEASEEEEE!

The ultimate BYU fans. I may be the ultimate football hater because it takes so much of my husband time, but I do think it's pretty cute that Drew and Garrett get this father and son bonding time........by-the-way I went to a game once with Garrett and two teams were playing in blue uniforms and I had to ask Garrett what team BYU was!

Bryce, otherwise known as Captain Fun! We all sat on the beach and slept while Bryce entertained the kids, he even made a Sponge Bob Bikini Bottom sand castle!

Poor,poor, pregnant Lori! She was so sick, but still managed to have fun!

So the best Mom in the world decided to take my family and my sister's family to the beach! She was such a trooper dealing with all of our kids! Thanks Mom, we love you!

There's something about having a very best friend who will love you through thick and thin, even forgive you when you go on a date with the guy she liked! When I dreamed of what Garrett's relationship would be like with his son, this is exactly how I hoped it would be! They are best buddies, he idolizes his dad, and Garrett idolizes his son! They share all of the same hobbies and passions.....football and junk food! They share the same gene pool(obviously), they are clones of each other, I love it!

There are those kids that come from Heaven with a spirit that overflows their little bodies, and this is one of those! I love this kid, he is sweet from head to toe!

....so you know that kid that makes you laugh no matter what he does, well this one is it! Trey is hilarious, and I mean hilarious!

I love Lucas because everytime we drive past "pumpkin land" he says with all of his innocence "f___inland because he can't say it any other way!

This is Tessa's first year at dance! She is taking at Center Stage, and her teacher is Miss Kim....she's one of the best! Hopefully Tessa fairs better than me, I am the most utterly and completely uncoordinated person I know! I remember taking a street dancing aerobic class at the gym. The instructor of the class went around to all of the participants motivating them and then stopped at me and just shook his head in disappointment....I've moved on and decided this is not my strength in life, maybe in the next life!

This one crept up on me way too fast! I wasn't ready for my baby "Tess" to go to school. This decision to send her to school was definitely for her and not me! I think she's too little,she really isn't, I'm just having issues! We send all of our kids to Moonbeam's pre-school with Miss Kathy, she's the best, or at least the best for my kids....love her!

Libby is in 3rd Grade, love this child of mine, but she gives me a run for money! For some reason this year, I wasn't ready for them to go back, weird I know! Libby loves her teacher, Mr Rowley! She told me yesterday that he has a hole in the top of his mouth, and if he shines a flashlight in his hole you can see the light through his nose. No wonder she loves him, with a talent like that, seriously!

Big Boys played their own games!

Drew's "Red Rover" battle wound, I swear red rover is the most dangerous game around. Every round one of the kids was crying, from an almost dislocated arm, broken wrist, head bonks....etc. etc.

Last year Garrett was in Jackson Hole, Wyoming with the buddies so I braved this tradition by myself! All I can say is "disaster." Libby got the throw-ups in the middle of the night which threw my nephew into a panic attack, because of his fear of the barfs, so his Mom had to take him home. Tessa wouldn't go to sleep, so I fought her all night. In the morning I felt a sore throat coming on and later realized it was strep throat....miserable. The next night I had strep throat and Tessa got the throw-ups passed to her. I don't know about you but having strep throat and cleaning up vomit is not my idea of a good time! Needless to say, I had bad memories of the whole experience, and didn't sleepover this time, I left that job to Garrett. I must disclose that everything went well this year, and fun was had by everyone!

Softball

...so Libby has tried EVERYTHING(softball, dance, gymnastics, soccer, basketball, etc.) and she never seems to like anything more than a year! I have a rule, I don't care what it is that you're involved in, you just have to be involved in something! I believe that if you're involved in activities, whether it be in the creative, intellectual, athletic, and social areas areas you become more confident, learn work ethic, and develop a sense of purpose! It might take a few more tries, but Libby, will become passionate about something. This year we are trying tumbling and piano....we'll see!

Pioneer Day!

This year our church did a pioneer breakfast celebration! We had a kids bike parade, played old pioneer games, etc. etc. The girls dressed up, but Drew was "too cool for school" so he had no interest in dressing up....oh well! To be honest I didn't want to dress up either, I must of been a little too cool myself! We had lots of fun!

My cute Mom this year decided that she would buy us(the whole family) tickets to the Spanish Fork Rodeo! My Mom grew up on a cattle ranch in the "huge" farming town of Kanosh, UT. Kanosh is right off of I-15 going south, but don't blink or you just might miss it! My Grandpa was a cattle rancher and I remember as a kid Grandpa George taking us to the rodeo each year, such great memories. The "Old Cowboy," as President Monson would call him when he served as a general authority was an amazing man, and I don't say amazing lightly. I loved my Grandpa George so much and was so glad my little family got to participate in the rodeo tradition this year.....thanks, Mom! Sorry I don't have a picture of you, I don't know how I missed that one!

So what do you get your Mom for Mo†her's Day? Flowers, maybe a box of chocolates, better yet a day at the spa....etc. etc. This year I decided to give my Mom a public gift from my heart! A tribute of sorts, a blog entry dedicated to her for the world to see(or maybe just the 2 or 3 people who find my blog interesting enough to read)

.....so Mom this is for you!

My Mom is beautiful inside and out, her heart is as vibrant as her striking white hair! By-the-way I love her white hair, she inherited it from my Grandpa George, and I'm crossing my fingers I'll inherit it too! My Mom loves to garden, and I don't say that lightly. I remember my friends from high school asking me why my Mom was outside at 1:00 am in her night gown with a spray bottle. Of course being the insecure teenager that I was, I was embarrassed that she would let my friends see her in her night gown and had to express my concerns to her. She then explained to me that deer don't like rotten eggs so if she sprays her roses with this solution then her "little rose babies" will be safe and sound. Now that is dedication! I vividly recall that during all of the summer months in the door of the fridge was a spray bottle filled with rotten eggs! Her talent for gardening is amazing, she can name and catergorize every plant with it's accompanying family, blooming period, growth potential, etc.

-My Mom loves unconditionally, In a crowded room she would prefer to talk to the teenager with the nose ring and mohawk, she has a way with teenagers, outside appearance and rebellious attitudes mean nothing to her.

-My Mom is nurturing beyond words. During my toughest moments and trials, she is the one, along with Garrett of course, that can make things "all better."

-My Mom is so smart! She graduated with a masters degree in English, and loves to read. I would love to know exactly how many books she has read in her lifetime. She's current on politics and I love to hear her political views! Along with my Dad she as taught our family the importance of an education and dedication to your talents. Here is a brief family brag moment:

5 of 6 children played college basketball(sorry I ruined the perfect record, wink)

All 6 of her children will graduate or have graduated from college, and even one graduated with a PHD

-So Mom take this with a grain of salt and please laugh.....please. I love my Mom because she is a bit of a clutz. Oh how we've laughed at her embarrassing moments. Here's just a few:
Stuffing cotton balls in your bathing suit and then thinking it would be a good idea to go swimming. Traci pretending she didn't know you as your cotton balls floated out of your bathing suit and all over the pool.

Sneezing a "logi" on the guy in front of us, while waiting in line to reserve our hotel room in Mexico.

Dropping your spaghetti sauce at Sebaros and having it spray all over your pants. Then you replacing your spaghetti sauce stained pants with your short running shorts you had just bought. We still had shopping to do, there was no time to go home and change. I'll never forget your outfit that day: button-up blouse, short running shorts, and high-heal sandals! Do you remember we saw Anne Heaston that day? I still wonder what she was thinking.....

Losing your wig while riding on a roller coaster with Dad on a date. Losing your wig a second time while making-out at the drive-in!

Mom, I love you for not only your perfections, but also for your imperfections!

My Mom has a tender and sensitive heart! She gets hurt easily, therefore, she is very sensitive to not hurt other feelings. I'm still sorry Mom for making fun of your purple polka-dot beach cruiser and making you cry, you can totally pull off your beach-cruiser with dignity and grace.....you rock!

More than anything in the world, I want to thank my Mom for teaching me the tools to be a good Mom. She has taught me the importance of service, unconditional love(which I have not mastered), how to live a spiritual Christ centered life, love of nature, patience, and the importance of gratitude for the little things in life.

FINISHED!! I had so much fun that I am actually a little bit sad (a very little bit sad) that it's over. I definitely don't miss the mess, we had dust on every inch of our house, I had to dust and wash everything in my house, such a pain! So welcome to the "Deucher" cottage, sorry Garrett it's so feminine, next remodel I'll make it very masculine......I promise, wink wink!

I made this coat rack and placed shoe baskets under it, seriously this is the best, no more scrambling for shoes and backpacks before school!

I wanted a cottage bedding set, and the only one I found online that I liked was out of my budget x's 3 so I made my own!

Bathroom-new tile, it was amazing how much black mold was under our linoleum...sick!

"SOME DAYS YOU ARE THE BUG, AND SOME DAYS YOU ARE THE WINDSHIELD," Today I was the windshield, and I am oh-so grateful for that!!!!

JUST FOR FUN I'M DOING ANNE'S TOP TEN FOR A WEEK!

1-Drew's fever went down from 104 to 101
2-My attempt at highlighting and coloring my hair wasn't a total disaster, it actually turned out okay!
3-Watched a fishing show with my husband, brother-in-law, and brother-in-law's friend, and it didn't involve any bum belching....phew, I hate that!
4-The refreshments at my meeting tonight were so delicious, I ate three servings and called it dinner!
5-Eating outside on Center Street at Gurros with Tessa and Drew.....the best.
6-I didn't make my bed for the first time in weeks, so liberating!
7-Running, wasn't totally miserable, just moderately miserable!
8-Tessa's crooked pigtails and snotty nose, need I say more?
9-Libby reading to me for the first time the book "I'll Love you Forever," instead of me reading it to her.
10-Tessa telling me that she's ready to be a "gril" again, and not a "buoy", phew that was a close one.

Just a thought on trials. Lately I've had a doozie of a one, and have spent most of my days begging for it to leave, maybe I need to adjust my prayers and instead of praying for the trial to leave, maybe pray for strength, patience, and perseverance instead! I don't believe the man upstairs gives us our trials, this is a imperfect world for heaven's sake, trials just happen as a result of it's imperfection, but I do believe he chooses the way he helps us through our trials. He knows what will make us stronger, more refined, and a better people all together. I love this picture, we spend so much time endlessly climbing life and forget to look at the beauty above us!

Our Anniversary! We celebrated at the Zermatt(spelling?) in Midway. The food was so delicious. All I can say is all-you-can-eat snow crab.....mercy! Oh how I love this big hunk of a man/kid! Here's to many more years!

The Price

So, to be quite frank and honest, I'm one of the very lucky few, I think 5% to 10% of the child bearing female population that gets a very bad, not so fun, case of the post baby madness. I will refrain from saying Post-partum depression because that sounds way to clinical and depressing(HE,HE) So when I found out almost three years ago that I was pregnant with my third, I cried and cried, I think I continued crying for 3 months. I was sick, fat(a good comparison would be an over-filled water balloon), and I seriously think I was the missing bird from the cuckoo nest.

After the delivery, I looked at this new precious infant, who by-the-way reminded me of Uncle Fester from the Adams Family(it was her long curly eyebrows), we won't tell her that, and decided I could do it. I left the hospital and immediately trimmed her long curling eyebrows(amazing a baby that needs her eyebrows trimmed), and decided that I would bucker down for a long ride, and believe me it was a long ride. The ride lasted for over a year, but ladies it did and does end, and I can say that I'm the happiest I have ever been and have been for a while. There is a fine line between sanity and insanity and I was walking that fine line. I can honestly say the one thing that caused my madness, was the very one thing that got me back. So for that Tessa I thank you and love you, and we will forever have a special bond.

After spending a day at garage sales, I found 2 dressers and a book shelf. I got all three for a grand total of 40 dollars. With a little elbow grease, I painted them and ta-daa they worked out great. Tessa and Libby moved in together so their room is the pink one(as if you didn't know), and Drew got his own room! Now....what color to paint Drew's room....um

St. George 2009

St. George has stolen my best friend. Haley broke the news to me a couple of days ago, and I think I'm still in mourning. Miss Haley and I have been best friends since 7th grade. We've gone through all of the major life transitions together;boyfriends, college, marriage, kids, etc.etc. What's that you say, oh you say St. George isn't that far away, well it's too far for me. So, I guess, I'll have to be spending a lot more time in St. George, too bad.

Um, so maybe Garrett will be missing a little more of Aaron than we thought, double wink wink!

The Journey

Wow, where do I start.....I love when people compare their lives to a roller coaster ride, up and down, with unexpected curves. I love that analogy because it's so true, life does have the capability of giving you rough and good times. I would like to compare my/our life to an airplane ride. For you that know me, traveling is my drug of choice. I seriously get a high from experiencing new surroundings. I love trying new foods, talking to new people, and just getting out of my element for a while. Wow, talking about this wants me to plan another trip. Anyways, back to the metaphor, so the plane ride... The plane our family is on is a small commuter plane, there are horrible drops from extreme turbulence and then there are beautiful vistas as we look back at the storm clouds we have passed and move on to blue skies. At times the commuter plane gets a little claustrophobic, but yet feels cozy because our family is all together. After flying for what seems to be an eternity, we arrive to our destination. We are excited to be in this new place, and for the journey that lies ahead of us. Who knows what we'll experience in this new place, maybe it will be great, maybe it won't, but at least we can say that we are lucky to be in this new place and for the chance to learn all about it. I feel like my life is an ever changing plane ride, with so many destinations visited and so many destination yet to visit (i.e. marriage, new babies, health issues, new jobs, new home, new neighbors,etc.)

So to go along with my cute little metaphor(too cute), in my blog, I would like to focus and write about events that create vibrant memories in my life, and maybe even write about events that aren't so enjoyable, but have the ability to incubate character within me. So there, with that said I will start my personal journal via blog, but always censored and maybe embellished... of course!
